Bring The Electronics:  We don’t leave home without all of our gadgets. They aren’t meant to be babysitters on the trip, but they are handy for those extra long days and moments of desperation.  Seriously, a good movie or video game can keep the car quiet and calm for hours when needed.  Don’t leave home without your kids’ favourites or a new favourite movie or game for them to play on the road when going gets tough.  Include chargers and extra batteries too!

Make The Car Comfy:  If your kids are still in child restraints of some kind, this can be tougher yet still doable.  Bring the comforts of home like a favourite blanket, pillow or stuffed animal.  Being able to relax in comfort (safely) is important for them, and to not complain about cramped quarters or to have to sit for an extended period of time.  Travel neck pillows are also great investments!

On our recent road trip, we drove a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sedan Eco.This midsize sedan is perfect for a larger family. It doesn’t disappoint regarding leg room and comes with plenty of space for everyone in the family to fit comfortably. The interior is not only roomy but gives a quiet feel to its passengers for a simple, refined ride. The seats are comfortable so regardless of where your travels take you, you can enjoy the comfort they have to offer without ever having to do the uncomfortable shift associated with uncomfortable seats.

Let Them Create Your Playlist:  Nothing helps kids have more fun than getting them involved in the planning of what you will do.  For the next trip you take, let your kids be the ones to create your music playlists.  This is a simple yet fun task they can do with or without supervision depending on age and ability.

Plan Kid Friendly Stops Each Day:  While you may have specific times you must reach your destination, you can still allow for a short trip to something like a fast food play center, a local park or even a fun, interactive kids museum along the way.  If you are going cross country, you can work in a few of those fun “largest” or “smallest” or “most visited” places that you hear about in movies or on TV.  We love including 2-3 food stops during our trip that have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives too!

Bring Healthy Snacks For In The Car:  To avoid the constant “I’m hungry” interruptions, plan ahead and pack your snacks.  This is also a great way to avoid the need for candy, chips and cookies often grabbed at convenience stores along the way.  Bring fresh fruit, whole grain crackers, organic fruit treats, and even string cheese or fat-free Greek yogurt in a cooler. To save time I like to bring all of my snacks from home (as much as possible) so I’m not spending oodles of dollars buying snacks from the gas station.

Aside from the great level of comfort and style, the Hyundai Sonata Sedan Eco offers to both its driver and passengers; the sedan also has a lot of different features that sets it apart from the rest. Along with a 7-inch touchscreen, the Hyundai Sonata also features smartphone integration with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. It also comes equipped with a rear camera to help guide your vehicle without accidents as well as automatic headlights to keep you safe while on the road.

Some other included highlights of the Hyundai Sonata Sedan Eco include but aren’t limited to:

  • Auto emergency braking.
  • Application of aluminum suspension components to aid in better, smoother handling.
  • Awesome gas mileage. 28 fuel economy rating in the city and 38mpg on the highway.
  • Driver’s blind spot mirror.
  • Tire pressure monitoring system.
  • Power windows and locks.

The Hyundai Sonata Sedan Eco is the perfect choice for a small to medium sized family.  It’s also a doable option for families who are operating on a budget but have an interest in looking to upgrade their old family vehicle.
